IELTS Classes
The International English Language Testing System or IELTS acts as an avenue to universities for studying abroad. The IELTS testing system exhibits a real-world context and approach, making it significant for visa and migration purposes.
The efficacy of this testing system is determined by mainly two systems:
- There are more than ten thousand education institutes depending on the IELTS scores obtained by a candidate.
- This test is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP Education and Cambridge Assessment English.
There are more than 12,00 testing centres for IELTS present across 140 countries and territories.
What is the IELTS exam all about?
IELTS constitutes two types of tests: Academic and General.
- The Academic IELTS is for students looking for the opportunity to study abroad at a university or college, hence securing a good score is essential for them.
- The General IELTS emphasises on managing and sustaining one’s living standards through the development of English language control and comprehension in these countries.
The IELTS test is a trusted and respected form of English language testing. The tests enable a student to perfect their English communication skills through the usage of language and interactions.
The candidates appearing for the IELTS tests are assessed based on:
- The ability to listen and grasp the language in minimum time
- The ability to read the material presented in the English language
- The ability to write English words accurately
- The ability to speak fluent English
IELTS results are reported on a 9-band scale system. The reporting band scores scale from 1 (the lowest) to 9 (the highest).
Band 9: An Expert — This student has excellent command of the English language and can thereby manage any interactional situation.
Band 8: Very good — This student’s overall performance is good with a few inaccuracies which is tolerable with the existing knowledge.
Band 7: Good — This student’s performance is relatively good with very few difficulties faced in unknown situations.
Band 6: Competent — This student can comprehend and deal with more than average situations and manage circumstances easily in familiar situations.
Band 5: Modest — This student deals with problem-solving. They might make mistakes to a limited extent and have partial command over the language.
Band 4: Limited — This student holds less knowledge and competency. They can’t manage interacting in certain necessary words and situations.
Band 3: Extremely limited — This student can understand and convey but with very limited ways with frequent breakdowns even in moderate situations.
Band 2: Intermittent — This student is not able to hold a practical communication apart from managing a few broken words, implying difficulty in understanding even the basic English language.
Band 1: Non-User — This student does not present the ability to speak or use the English language, except for a few limited words.
